Fryze Privacy Policy
Last Updated: August 2026
Fryze ("the App") is a gamified digital wellbeing app that helps you reduce screen time, restrict access to distracting apps, and build focus habits. Because the App works with the apps you use most, we designed it around a strict "On-Device First" principle: your app usage data stays on your device.
1. Screen Time & Family Controls Data
The core functionality of the App relies on Apple's Screen Time frameworks: FamilyControls, ManagedSettings and DeviceActivity. When you grant Screen Time authorization, the following applies:
- Anonymised Application Tokens: When you pick apps to freeze (Ice Shield / Detox Mode), Apple's privacy protocols mean iOS hands us only opaque, non-readable identifiers (
ApplicationToken) that are processed on your device only. We cannot see the names or icons of the apps you select.
- No Content Access: The App can never see, record, or transmit to our servers the contents of your other apps, your conversations and messages, or your in-app activity. No browsing history, no screenshots, no keystrokes.
- No Cloud Uploads: Your app selections, block schedules, and usage statistics are stored locally on your device and, where applicable, in an app group container shared only with our own app extensions. This data is never uploaded to our servers.
- Apple's Protection: Screen Time data is protected by iOS at the operating system level and is not accessible to us outside the sandbox Apple defines.
2. Personal Data We Do Not Collect
The App does not require an account and does not ask you to identify yourself.
- No Personal Identifiers: We do not collect your name, surname, e-mail address, phone number, or any similar personal identity information.
- No Location Data: The App does not request or collect location data.
- Never Sold or Shared: We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for any purpose, including advertising.
- What Is Actually Collected: The data involved is limited to on-device usage statistics (such as block duration and the number of times you resisted opening an app) and anonymous in-app purchase / crystal balance records.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
To make the gamification work, the App keeps a small amount of state locally:
- Block Profiles: The groups of apps you chose to restrict, along with their schedules and friction settings.
- Focus Goals: The positive habits you selected during onboarding (reading, hydration, breathing, language practice).
- Progress & Streaks: Detox session history, resisted-attempt counts, and streak days.
- Ice Crystal Balance: The consumable in-app currency you earn or purchase.
All of the above is written to local storage on your device. Deleting the App removes this data.
4. Notifications & Live Activities
With your permission, the App shows local notifications, Live Activities, and Dynamic Island updates so you can track an active detox session. These are generated on your device. We do not operate a push server that receives your session details.
5. Subscriptions & Payment Information
The App offers consumable in-app purchases (Ice Crystal packs) and an optional subscription (Fryze Pro).
- Processed by Apple: All payment transactions take place directly through the Apple App Store (StoreKit) infrastructure.
- No Payment Details: Your credit card, billing, and payment information is processed solely by Apple. Fryze cannot access or store this information, and we do not receive your Apple ID credentials.
6. Third-Party Services
We do not use any third-party advertising services and we do not sell or share your personal data. We use a limited number of services strictly for purchase validation and app stability:
- Purchase Validation (e.g. RevenueCat): Secure infrastructure may be used to verify your subscription status and in-app purchases (Ice Crystals). In this process only anonymous user identifiers (App User ID) that contain no personal data are used.
- Firebase (Google): Used strictly for crash reporting (Crashlytics) and anonymous, aggregated usage analytics that help us find and fix bugs. This service does not have access to your Screen Time data, your selected apps, or your block profiles.
7. Data Security
Because your app selections, statistics, and progress remain on your device, they are protected by the standard security protocols of the iOS operating system, including app sandboxing and device-level encryption.
8. Children's Privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Given our on-device approach, no child's usage data is collected or transmitted by us.
9. Your Rights & Control
You are always in control:
- You may revoke Screen Time authorization at any time from iOS Settings, which immediately stops all blocking.
- You may delete individual block profiles or reset your progress inside the App.
- Deleting the App removes all locally stored Fryze data from your device.
